Asthma (v2)

Course overview

Asthma is a chronic inflammation of the airways that can cause, coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath. An estimated 26 million Americans suffer from asthma and three to four thousand people die from complications of this disease every year.

These deaths often result from sudden, severe asthma attacks that are not treated quickly or properly by the patient or emergency responders. This program describes how to identify, diagnose, and respond to asthma in a pre-hospital setting.

The focus of this program is the treatment of asthma patients who are experiencing an acute and life-threatening attack.
